Construction accounting software for UAE contractors
Construction accounting differs from ordinary bookkeeping because revenue arrives through certificates, advances are recovered, retention is held for years and VAT timing follows the continuous-supply rules. SupaJack Construct's accounting is built for that: progress billing from certificates, retention and advance tracking, 5% VAT, VAT returns, banking with post-dated cheques, and payroll postings by project.
What construction accounting needs
| Need | How SupaJack Construct handles it |
|---|---|
| Progress billing | Invoices raised only from payment certificates |
| Advance recovery | Recovered per certificate, capped at what is outstanding, VAT reversed |
| Retention | Held per certificate, released in tranches with their own invoices |
| VAT | 5% with a locked choice of how retention VAT is treated, and VAT return support |
| Banking | Bank accounts, reconciliation and post-dated cheques in and out |
| Payroll | Posted to the ledger by cost centre and project |
| Other currencies | Rates stored by date for foreign-currency purchases |
Why it matters
Generic accounting packages record an invoice. They do not know that the invoice came from a certificate, that part of it recovers an advance or that retention is still owed. Without that, retention receivable and advance balances drift away from the contract, and the VAT return stops matching the ledger.
Reports finance teams use
- Books against documents: invoices, bills and receipts compared with what the ledger holds, so a missing posting shows up before the auditors find it.
- Departmental and project profit and loss.
- Accounts receivable and payable ageing, including retention still owed.
- Budget against actual, with budget overrides needing approval.
- Exports to Excel, PDF and CSV for the auditor.
Month end without spreadsheets
Because certificates, invoices, payroll and purchases post as they happen, month end is a review rather than a rebuild. The trial balance, VAT figures and retention balances come from the same records the site and commercial teams already entered.
