Submittal
A submittal is a document sent to the consultant for approval before something is used on a project: a material, a supplier's pre-qualification, contract documents, a sample or a shop drawing. Approval before ordering avoids buying material that is later rejected.
Where you meet it
Read the document control guide. In SupaJack Construct material, pre-qualification and contract submittals are compulsory for a project and sampling and drawing are optional. Related: material inspection report and work inspection report.
Why it matters
A rejected submittal discovered after ordering means material bought for nothing, so approval should come before the purchase order.
